Adding a proper label to your MP3-player

When you connect  your MP3 player to a computer, you really would want the tree node in Windows explorer to say something nice, like “My MP3 player”. This can easily be accomplished by adding an autorun.inf file in the root directory of the player.

Fire up your fav editor, heck, even Notepad will do the job.

Add the following lines:

[autorun]
label=MP3-player

and save the file as autorun.inf in the root directory of your player.

There are more tricks that can be done using the autorun.inf file, and I’ll get to them soon.
